2025 Science & Cycling Conference Recap: Lille, France

This year marked our second time attending the Science & Cycling conference. This time in Lille, France. For those who don’t know, this conference takes place annually in the host city of the Tour De France. It’s a fantastic opportunity to take in some of the leading research in the field and network with the top academics, thought leaders, and hands-on players in the cycling industry. A few presentations really stood out to both me and many other attendees, and I’d like to take a short moment to highlight them. Please note, many of these presentations were either the initial presentation of academic research papers or were quite research based so a brief paragraph or two obviously won’t do them justice. Conference Highlights Our team attended several compelling presentations that stood out for their practical relevance and innovative research. Below […]

Rebecca’s Private Idaho 2024 Recap

At the beginning of September MyVeloFit spent a week in Ketchum, Idaho, sponsoring and attending Rebecca’s Private Idaho (RPI) gravel race. This was our 3rd year sponsoring the event making RPI one of our longest standing partnerships. RPI is a stage race making it one of the more unique gravel races in North America. At the same time, it’s one of the most beautiful races with incredible scenery riding on remote roads through the mountains in Sun Valley. Let’s get into the details of how we fared through the event! The Bike Set Up For RPI, I rode my Canyon Grizl equipped with SRAM Rival AXS and 45mm Schwalbe G-One Bites. Fit wise, I rode a wider handlebar than I normally choose and a slightly more upright position. I heard that some of the sections in Stage 1 and Stage […]

Science & Cycling Conference

Last week I attended the Science & Cycling Conference in Florence, Italy. For those that aren’t aware, the Science in Cycling conference is put on by the journal of Journal of Science & Cycling and is typically hosted the two days before the Tour De France and in the same starting city. It’s an excellent opportunity to network with some of the thought leaders in cycling performance and if you are interested in the subject I highly encourage you to consider attending. It’s also great to get a chance to check out the start of the Tour. Stay tuned for our blog post from the ground at the Tour next week.   Science & Cycling Conference Presentations Because many of the presentations were from pre-publication academic studies it’s difficult to give a full recap of the event and presentations. Instead, […]

3 Trends from Sea Otter 2024

From my early days as a young DH grom in the ‘90’s, to my first attendance this year with MyVeloFit, Sea Otter Classic has always signalled the start of the mountain biking season for me. This iconic event, deeply etched in my earliest memories of cycling, has evolved from a much-anticipated product launch platform into the premier cycling industry showcase in North America—especially since the decline of the Interbike trade show. This year, I had the opportunity to walk the grounds of the Sea Otter Classic not just as a spectator, but as a participant, experiencing firsthand the bustling atmosphere of what has been declared the biggest year yet. It was a culmination of years of enthusiasm and anticipation, a chance to immerse myself in the heart of the cycling community I’ve grown up with. Join me as we dive […]

Ride Report: The Rift 2022

There are some rides that grab your attention and just won’t let you look away. When the Rift launched in 2019 it certainly caught my eye, but I wasn’t yet fully committed to the idea of jumping on a plane to Iceland for a gravel race. Well, sometimes life has other plans, and my significant other had decided this was something we definitely had to do, so it looked as though we would be ramping up to tackle the Rift in 2020. The world also had other plans in store for us and we ended up having to wait two long years to finally catch that plane to Iceland to tackle the Rift. In the meantime I had managed to suffer a full achilles rupture (playing soccer) which curtailed any training, and certainly had me wondering if I would actually […]
