Just as our bodies change over time, so too should our riding positions. Time trial bike with measurements that conform to the UCI regulations

How To Measure And Set Up Your Time Trial Bike For UCI Regulations

Time trialing is one of the most accessible types of bike racing. Not only is it typically less dangerous than pack riding, Time Trialing can be more rewarding since the results are directly tied to your personal performance that day whereas there are more factors at play in other types of group racing. While most people get started at local club level time trials, which generally don’t pay much attention to bike setup, as you advance in the sport you will likely be required to have your bike setup checked to ensure you fall within the UCI’s strict regulations. If your bike doesn’t fall within these regulations you will be required to adjust your bike on the spot. Because changing your fit can have significant impacts on performance we recommend you ensure your position is compliant sooner rather than later. […]

Bike sizing vs bike fitting

Bike Sizing Vs. Bike Fitting

The terms “bike fitting” and “bike sizing” can create significant confusion as they are often wrongfully used interchangeably. While they are very much related, they are two distinct parts of helping you match a bike to your body and riding needs. For those of you looking for the quickest possible answer to this question: Bike Sizing = Selecting the appropriate size of bike (e.g. S, M, L,50cm, 52cm, 56cm, etc.) Bike Fitting = Adjusting the touchpoints (e.g. saddle, handlebars, etc.) on a bike to meet a riders needs. Bike Sizing vs Bike Fitting To help put this into perspective, we like to use the analogy of buying a suit (or other formal attire). Sizing is choosing the right size suit off the rack, and fitting is equivalent to having a tailor hem the trousers and jacket sleeves to match your body. Needless […]

Finding The Perfect Riding Position: Balancing Goals In Bike Fit

It would be convenient if there was a single perfect riding position, or even a perfect position for one rider, or even a perfect position for one discipline for one rider, unfortunately this just isn’t the case. Bike fitting is a balancing act which considers all the elements of riding a bike to try and find the position that works best for a rider, at a point in time, based on their needs and goals. The part of bike fitting that tends to get the most attention is the biomechanic element; tuning a position to help a rider’s body move well and injury free. However, bike fit can actually be much bigger than this and tackle a rider’s whole relationship with the bike. Five elements of bike fit To help explore this in more detail we’ve broken it down into […]
